Urge President Biden to Act

Besides the hazards and damages already done. Line 5 runs through the Straights of Mackinac which I believe the INDIGENOUS PEOPLE retained the rights too in the washington treaty. Their voices are then ones we should be listening too. We have no respect for the earth or her water. Her land or her air. We have polluted every facet of mother earth greedily for money. Line 5 shoulnt even exist. I would ask the INDIGENOUS PEOPLE how it should be handled, what can we do to undo what has been done? We cant… but we can change. We can say its not okay and we the people do not accept this. This is not our earth or our land. We cannot do whatever we want to it without consequence. Stop the damage. And stop the genocide that has be afflicting the INDIGENOUS PEOPLE since colonization first began. We can change, as people, as states as a nation- not a first nation but a forced nation built on blood hate and greed. We offer aide to those across the world yet refuse to acknowledge the horrors hidden at home. We condemn others for how we treat those we have deemed less then. You cannot eat money nor oil. Tar sand nor any other thing pumped through a pipeline. All they do is cause damage either in the pipeline or somewhere elese along the refining process. If its not water and land its the air. Stop killing our home and us. Stop the GENOCIDE OF THE INDIGENOUS. Stop line 5. Please. Im begging for us and for the future. We have to protect now for them. For those to come…

The time is now to put people and planet above corporate greed. We don’t need line5, but we do need the great lakes. Stop allowing Enbridge to do destroy our lands and waters

This is so important for the protection of our Great Lakes. Internationally too! There is nothing more important in this age of climate change than giving every possible protection to the Great Lake jewels we are privileged to have! Please stop the travesty of a tunnel beneath them. Canada must be convinced!

It is currently operating illegally. It violates 1836 treaty rights, rights to hunting and fishing, rights to culturalknowledge and living, and rights to archeological discovery and learning. Enbridge cannot be trusted to operate, inspect properly and safely. They are responsible for the 2 largest inland oil spills / crises which are still not cleaned up. They took 17 hrs to shutdown the pipeline in 2010 devastating the Kalamazoo River, during which time they restarted it twice, further pumping-spilling more oil! Arrival of pipeline workers, “mancamps” have increased crime in those areas- see historical statistics on the assault, sexual assault, and homicides in Minnesota and other areas. The tar sands and oil carried in Line5 is denser than water and will sink or stay suspended so typical cleanup methods will not work and dredging will be the only option which will be nearly impossible to be effective in The Straits!! The physical construction of a tunnel poses too many potential geological and structural risks to the land, and waterbeds of the area and the Mackinac Bridge. 5-7 yrs of drilling will destroy the local stability and present methane deposit and earthquake hazards. They will also bring 27% more in carbon dioxide pollution. It also violates international treaties in that it endangers drinking water for over 40 million people on both sides of the border. As of 2011 there were over 2400 defects in Line5 of which Enbridge had only inspected less than 12%. Not only are The Great Lakes over 20% of the world’s Fresh Water resource, they are 84% of North America’s. This pipeline transports from Canada through our entire state, and ends up back in Canada, by/for a Canadian company. It does not get refined for our own or any gasoline usage. Majority of Upper Peninsula energy companies have gone on record saying when it is shutdown they will have no problem still providing for their residents. It is not a question of if but when there is oil spill crisis emergency and that is a risk too great to continue on, a risk to our livelihood and our future generations. Please consider all of the ecological damage a small leak would cause, let alone an all out rupture. Birds, fish, plants, the water and all of MI residents are at risk. Being one of the largest resources of fresh water, is the risk from Canadian owned Enbridge worth this risk? This company has shown us several times that they never take ownership or responsibility for their disastrous errors. It is horrifying to even think about.

I understand you are a very busy person and this might not be a priority to the Federal government, but it is an urgent matter to us in the Straits of Mackinaw. I hope that you will support us in protecting the very special Great Lakes and ask Enbridge to not only abide by the law (Governor Whitmer sued them to stop immediately, but they are still operating as if that request was not made). Are they above MI law? Enbridge is also in violation of a fishing rights treaty. Will you hold them accountable for these violations? Is this Canadian Energy company simply above the law? Please consider revoking the permit for Line 5 Tunnel as well as decommissioning the current line 5 system. Please protect this vast fresh water resource. The MI folks need your help and your voice. There is just too much at risk.

THIS IS A DISASTER FOR THE GREAT LAKES REGION AND THE REMAINDER OF THE COUNTRY. STOP THE MADNESS BEFORE IT IS TOO LATE. REGRETS WON’T HELP US THEN.

I’m disappointed in my country breaking its treaties made with the indigenous nations whom lived here and cared for this land long before we arrived. I’m worried that not long after the fish in Lake Erie are just beginning to become sage to eat again, that further pollution will keep my family from boating and fishing on the Great Lakes, AGAIN. I’m concerned what an oil spill will do to the local economies of the lake towns all along the Great Lakes coastline that rely on recreation and fishing tourism. I want to move past fossil fuel investment and into renewable sources.

Stop investing our land, our money, our labor, and our integrity as a nation into the fossil fuel industry!

I vote Against the Tunnel, Great Lakes Tunnel, Against Oil Drilling in Great Lakes, Against Sweage Dumping in Great Lakes. TLN. 9.8.22.

That pipeline is much too Dangerous for Michigan, and for the environment!

Shut down the Enbridge pipeline and do something for the environment Mr Smiley Face!

The Great Lakes are a precious source of fresh water which is essential for life and more valuable that oil. Please shut down Line 5.

Water is Life >> no pipelines full of oil Please!

Shut the damn thing down before it’s too late.
