Please join us for a historic event to support the Indigenous and non-Indigenous groups working to protect sacred places including the Straits of Mackinac from the Enbridge Line 5 oil pipeline!
The House of Tears Carvers of the Lummi Nation has created a 25-foot totem pole that will travel from Washington State to Washington DC in July in a journey called The Red Road to DC. Along the road, the totem pole will visit many sacred and cultural places, including the Straits of Mackinac.
On July 27th at 9 AM EDT, Bay Mills Indian Community will be hosting this totem pole in Mackinaw City for its last stop en route to Washington DC. Please join us to take part in this incredible event.

The totem pole will carry the spirit of the lands it visits and the power and prayers of communities along the way — ultimately delivering these prayers, power, and demands to the Biden-Harris Administration and Congress in Washington DC, and culminating in an exhibition at the Smithsonian National Museum of the American Indian.
