Bike the Line - Part 1

When

May 25, 2016 at 11:00am through June 04, 2016

Where

The Route of Line 5
Marysville, MI
United States

logo-150.pngThis summer, people are biking against the flow of Line 5, Enbridge‘s crude oil pipeline that runs under the Straits of Mackinac. From Marysville, MI to Superior, WI, we’ll connect with communities living along the way and help mobilize to #ShutDownLine5.

Members of Michigan Coalition Against Tar Sands, Oil & Water Don’t Mix, and others are organizing a bike ride against the flow of Line 5. The riders will be cycling about 750–1,000 miles to reach out to community members, organizations, and businesses residing along the pipeline route who would be most affected by a pipeline rupture.

The goals are to:

  • Spread awareness about Line 5 to the communities along the pipeline
  • Connect with residents about the dangers of the pipeline and what to do when it spills
  • Energize the movement to shut down Line 5

The plan is to accomplish this in two segments. The first is May 25 through June 4. Part two happens from July 7 through August 20.

Details are developing daily - and you can help! Visit the Bike The Line website for the latest information and find out how you can participate.
