This Labor Day, the Tribal Chairs, Chiefs, Ogimaag, and Presidents of Michigan’s 12 federally recognized Tribal Nations are coming together to activate the ancestral Three Fires Confederacy for its first collective call to action to oppose the Enbridge Line 5 pipeline. Oil & Water Don't Mix and others are supporting this tribal-led event.

They are calling on relatives throughout the Great Lakes—Native people who call these waters home in Michigan, Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, and Ontario—and our allies and water protectors to stand with us.

This is not just a demonstration.

It is a ceremony. It is a water walk. It is a bridge walk.

It is an opportunity to honor our responsibility to the water and to remind the world that Anishinaabe people are still here, still protecting our homelands, and still carrying our responsibilities to the generations who come after us.
