The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has abruptly announced a supplemental Environmental Impact Statement process for the Line 5 replacement project. The supplemental EIS is focused on an HDD (horizontal directional drilling) project in the straits in addition to the EIS for the tunnel project.
We encourage you to voice your opposition to the supplemental viewing the EIS and submitting comments online to the Army Corps, due before December 5th.
You can also voice your opposition to the project by joining a public meeting held by the Army Corps on Wednesday December 3rd, from 1-4 pm et on zoom. There is no registration, so the zoom link provided will be the one you'll use to access the meeting.

Key Points
- This is a bait and switch by Enbridge and the Army Corps of Engineers, after focusing on the tunnel for years.
- Enbridge cannot safely perform HDD drilling in the Straits of Mackinac, their track record of frac-outs in their Line 3 expansion project demonstrates this.
- This project still forces Michigan taxpayers to carry all the risk for a foreign corporation.
