Submit Comment to Stop Enbridge Tunnel NowUPDATE Monday, Oct 19, 11:00 PM: To make your comment count, it must be submitted by 11:59 PM tonight.

Enbridge has submitted permit requests to the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (EGLE) for permission to construct a tunnel through the Great Lakes for its Line 5 oil pipeline.

In addition to Enbridge's shoddy record in Michigan, the proposed impacts to Great Lakes water quality during the construction process are severe, and if constructed, the climate impacts of an oil pipeline for the next 99 years will be devastating, especially since science demands we dramatically reduce the use of climate-warming fossil fuels in less than 10 years.

Director Clark and her staff need to feel pressure to treat this permit with the highest scrutiny. Enbridge must be subject to rigorous review and standards that are fitting in the protection of Michigan's greatest resource.

In the end, we believe Enbridge cannot meet these standards, and the tunnel cannot be constructed.

Remember - a completed tunnel in 7 or more years does not solve the problem of oil pipelines coursing through the Great Lakes while they're at the highest risk ever now.
