The Upper Peninsula Energy Task Force draft recommendations to Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer point to a needed shift away from the risky Enbridge Line 5 pipeline and the near-monopoly control by Canadian companies over the propane supply in the Upper Peninsula.

The Task Force says more rail transport is necessary for critically needed propane for home heating and other measures to avoid major future disruptions in supply, including a Line 5 pipeline rupture.

These are just draft recommendations. Enbridge will be fighting to keep Line 5 and its Canadian monopoly operating indefinitely.
