Sign to protect the Great Lakes from *another Line 5 oil spill
Dear Gov. Whitmer & Michigan’s Legislature:
An oil tunnel through the public bottomlands of the Straits of Mackinac won’t protect the Great Lakes from a 645-mile long aging Line 5 oil pipeline that has leaked at least 33 times into Michigan's environment. Even when its oil isn't spilling into the water, it adds to our climate crisis when burned by spilling carbon into the atmosphere every day. The time to end the threat of a catastrophic oil pipeline rupture is now. Instead of leaving a vulnerable and hazardous oil pipeline operating in the Mackinac Straits for years while trusting a dishonest Enbridge to protect the Great Lakes, I support your action to revoke the Line 5 easement and urge to you prevent an oil tunnel from being constructed.

We need you to end the line 5 pipeline it’s 68 years old and hasn’t had a permit with Michigan for decades, and it runs under the straits of Mackinaw which is at the top of the Great Lakes, which is one of the largest fresh water lakes in the world!!!
A oil pipeline spill here would be devastating to all the cities along these lakes who get their fresh water from them!!
Enbridge has a poor record of spills, leaks and poorer record of proper cleanup of the spills that they already have had, we can’t allow a big corporation to bully America into allowing them to proceed with this pipelines operation!!
We can’t afford a spill here of the magnitude that this pipeline is capable of, it would be worse than the Exxon Valdez spill in Alaska, and this is fresh water that the surrounding states and more use for recreational purposes and fresh water for most cities along its shores!!!
THIS PIPELINE MUST BE SHUT DOWN PERMANENTLY !!!
