This event is aimed to inform attendees about the dangers surrounding Line 5 - a set of two, 64-year-old pipelines that run under the Straits of Mackinac, a waterway joining Lake Michigan and Huron, and according to a University of Michigan study the “worst place” in the Great Lakes for an oil spill. The Great Lakes are the largest cluster of freshwater lakes in the world and hold roughly 20 percent of the world’s available fresh surface water, and are the drinking water source for over 35 million people. Line 5 is a disaster waiting to happen - one that would have devastating impacts on the Great Lakes, Michigan communities, the Grand Rapids economy, public health, and environment.

Featuring The Autumnatic / Moto / The Bootstrap Boys / Adrian Butler, and spoken word from Ericka Thompson.
