People from across the state will attend the Michigan Drinking Water Conference, hosted by the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (EGLE), to discuss Michigan's drinking water.
At the same time, a pipeline carrying 23 million gallons of oil is coursing daily through a 73-year-old pipeline at the Straits of Mackinac. Why is this not on the conference agenda?
Join organizers, Groundwork Center for Resilient Communities, for a peaceful demonstration calling for the shutdown of the pipeline that threatens drinking water for 40 million people. We'll be on the sidewalk out front of the conference center holding signs and messaging, calling for the shutdown of the pipeline and asking EGLE to deny the permit Enbridge needs to build an unprecedented fossil fuel project through the heart of the Great Lakes.
Coffee and bagels will be available.
