A significant part of shutting down an oil pipeline involves figuring out how to move away from using the oil it transports.
Beyond Paris: International to Local Climate Solutions
In this event, former Grand Rapids mayor George Heartwell will share lessons learned when he set Grand Rapids on a path to 100% renewable energy by 2020. He will also talk about his experience from attending the Paris Climate Agreement talks, and why it's important for Michigan to move toward renewables in the face of a warming climate, city by city.
Lessons learned are a critical next step in our collective efforts to #ShutDownLine5.
The discussion will feature an introduction from Traverse City Mayor Jim Carruthers, as well as a closing panel discussion with Heartwell and local leaders.
The Groundwork Center for Resilient Communities is co-hosting with the Michigan Climate Action Network, TC350, Michigan Environmental Council, SEEDS, Michigan League of Conservation Voters, LIAA, NMEAC, and Citizens' Climate Lobby.
Sponsored by Oryana Community Co-op, and Central United Methodist Church's Creation Stewards Ministry.
Please let us know you're coming. The event is FREE and open to the public.
