This is how we make our government accountable to the people. We'll deliver your signature to tell Gov. Whitmer the will of the people is to #ShutDownLine5
Building a tunnel for Enbridge Line 5 through the Straits of Mackinac is not a solution to protect the Great Lakes, 400 other water bodies, including Lake Michigan, or our dangerously overheating climate.
Sign to protect the Great Lakes from *another Line 5 oil spill
Dear Gov. Whitmer:
An oil tunnel through the public bottomlands of the Straits of Mackinac won’t protect the Great Lakes from a 645-mile long, 73-year-old Line 5 crude oil pipeline that has leaked at least 33 times into Michigan's environment. Even when its oil isn't spilling into the water, it adds to our climate crisis when burned by spilling carbon into the atmosphere every day. The time to end the threat of a catastrophic oil pipeline rupture is now. Instead of leaving a vulnerable and hazardous oil pipeline operating in the Mackinac Straits for years while trusting a dishonest Enbridge to protect the Great Lakes, I support your action to revoke the Line 5 easement and urge you to prevent an oil tunnel from being constructed.
* Yes, Enbridge Line 5 has already spilled 33 times and 1.1 million gallons.

The increase of damage these politicians are doing are creating all types of diseases. We are in a dependent cycle.
GOVERNOR WHITMER!!!
What a disappointment you have been to me and tens of thousands of others by signing your approval to keep Line 5 open.
I truly thought you were against Line 5 and would do the right thing to shut it down.
I don’t understand your approval. Could you at least explain why you are willing to threaten our Great Lakes and the people living in that area so that more fossil fuels can harm our planet and put our Great Lakes in danger?
Why did you break your promise to shut Line 5 down?
Shame on you!!!
You’re supposed to represent the community. The people & the best interests of Michigan. Line 5 (along with the data centers you just approved) are being protested LOUDLY and CLEARLY by the indigenous communities who know this environment best, in addition to the communities who will be immediately affected by the locations of the line 5 construction and the data centers.
As a kid, I spent many summers camping and exploring the natural areas on the North side of Mackinac bridge and that time spent has fueled my passion for nature and to protect it.
Do you want your great-grandchildren to experience the same natural beauty that’s iconic to MI?
Or ask why their great-grandmother, the Governor, didn’t do more to stop the ongoing, greed-fueled construction that ravaged a landscape they can only see in pictures.
IT’S NOT TOO LATE TO CHANGE YOUR LEGACY.
PLEASE reconsider,
Kaylee, raised in MI. Shaped by the natural areas I’ve had the privilege to experience.
