Building a tunnel for Enbridge Line 5 through the Straits of Mackinac is not a solution to protect the Great Lakes, 400 other water bodies, including Lake Michigan, or our dangerously overheating climate.

Oil BurnSign to protect the Great Lakes from *another Line 5 oil spill

Dear Gov. Whitmer:

An oil tunnel through the public bottomlands of the Straits of Mackinac won’t protect the Great Lakes from a 645-mile long, 73-year-old Line 5 crude oil pipeline that has leaked at least 33 times into Michigan's environment. Even when its oil isn't spilling into the water, it adds to our climate crisis when burned by spilling carbon into the atmosphere every day. The time to end the threat of a catastrophic oil pipeline rupture is now. Instead of leaving a vulnerable and hazardous oil pipeline operating in the Mackinac Straits for years while trusting a dishonest Enbridge to protect the Great Lakes, I support your action to revoke the Line 5 easement and urge you to prevent an oil tunnel from being constructed.

* Yes, Enbridge Line 5 has already spilled 33 times and 1.1 million gallons.

This pipeline will NOT be good for the Great Lakes or Michiganders. Fuck Enbridge and their oil pipeline! I want my children children to be able to enjoy the beautiful, fresh water Great Lakes. I want people to be able to enjoy the Great Lakes for generations to come. An oil spill will DESTROY out Greak Lakes!!

We must protect the Great Lakes from potential detrimental disaster. Water is life. These waterways are sacred to tribal communities and essential to the communities connected via these waterways.

I may not be from Michigan, but this is an issue that roots deeper. All our fresh water is sacred, and especially so in a time of global water bankruptcy and the increasing use of fresh drinkable water to cool machines. Not to fuel the lifeline of our blood as human beings, but to cool non-living, unnecessary machines. The pursuit for great profits is a disgusting one. There is no morality to it, its plain evil in nearly every single instance. This project not only puts the thousands of species who call the great lakes home at risk, but the people who depend on its water for economics, fishing, entertainment, and livelihood. Please, hear the cries of the people. I among many others urge the prevention to construct this oil tunnel.

This pipe line is not a benefit to Michigan at all. It’s a short cut to the Sarnia refinery. Shut it down for good and make Enbridge keep their pipe line in Canada. Since we don’t benefit from the oil i have to wonder why they were allowed to run the pipe line through Michigan in the first place. SHUT IT DOWN don’t risk our shorelines

I resent having to ask you to say no the Line 5 – you have plenty of reasons to say NO WAY!

Keep fossil fuels out of the world’s largest freshwater supply. We are living in a water BANKRUPTCY. Our children and children’s children and so on all deserve fresh water for drinking and swimming and enjoying. No money is worth what would be given up in return.
