For the first time in far too long, the Michigan Office of Attorney General stood up in court to protect the waters that belong to the people of Michigan. We've been working to hear opening arguments in a lawsuit to decommission Line 5 for years.

Please join us in signing this thank you letter to Attorney General Nessel and her team.

The wealth and power of the entire fossil fuel industry and their allies are aligned against us and our Attorney General, but the title of this case is “THE PEOPLE OF MICHIGAN v Enbridge.”

Let our advocates in the Attorney General’s office know that the people they represent have their backs and are thankful for the hard work and long hours they are putting in to face off against the wealthiest and most powerful industry in the history of the world.

Dear Attorney General Nessel, Deputy Attorneys General Manning, Reichel, and Bock, and staff of the Environment, Natural Resources, and Agriculture Division:

On May 22nd, we watched the Michigan Attorney General’s office take a stand to protect our public water resources on behalf of the people. Michigan residents have been asking for this for a long time and we thank you all for your efforts on our behalf.

For years, we have been calling for action to shut down the Line 5 pipeline, which as you know presents a constant and unnecessary threat to our state’s greatest treasure. It is inspiring to see the work that you all have put in to bring this case on behalf of the people. While the oil industry and other powerful financial interests are aligned against you, know that the people of Michigan and people around the world who value our Great Lakes are in your corner.

We know that this case is a long way from being decided, but we are grateful for your efforts, and the people of Michigan are with you as this case moves forward.

Thank you all!

It’s past due time to transition from fossil fuels. Oil pipelines are the opposite of what we need right now, as they financially lock us in to decades of further exploitation. Moreover, this pipeline risks fouling our priceless fresh water supply, which will become increasingly important in the century to come, as climate change creates droughts and possibly wars over water rather than oil. Water is Life.

Thank you so much for this. I have been doing extensive research on the pipelines do to my involvement of The Plight of Our Native Americans Under the Reign of Trump. I have found that the majority of these Energy Projects directly impact the Rights and Lands in Trust of/for the Native Americans. If Trump and his Profiteering Pals cannot take their land out right by executive order, he will break them financially in court (possibly with the bailout money Trump has given them.) In the meantime the Tribe has had to use it’s own money to handle the Pandemic as the Fed Gov is holding their funds (at least as of 2nd week in May.) Trump has had an open vendetta since 1993 against our natives and made it clear during his that he will utilize “All of our land” to grow (temporary) economy." I wish I had better access as I truly believe Trump had a relationship and agreement with the Energy companies which is what helped boost him to President. I am not a “religious” person per say, I consider myself spiritual. I was raised strict conservative southern baptist type mom and became an middle of the fence Independant in my young adulthood. I believe in compromise and communication. But I love our land and I am very disappointed in the republican party – so this girl is in the pipeline fight – let me know what you need. Again – if someone can find campaign connections with Profiteering pals, there is a great chance you will find conspiracy and more underhanded deals. Again, thank you so much for everything. This group of women in our state are phenomenal……. I am voting straight blue this time around.
